Lowe Lowe Rust Primer, 375g Tile Red is a premium primer specifically designed to protect against rust. This versatile primer can be applied to both old and new metal surfaces, and uniquely, it can be painted directly onto existing rust. It works by binding to the surface and chemically reacting with any rust present, effectively neutralising it and preventing further corrosion. A second coat provides an additional barrier for enhanced protection against future rusting. Minimal surface preparation is required, only the removal of loose and flaky material. It is also suitable for use on damp or even wet surfaces. While no over-coating is strictly necessary, it serves as an excellent base for most standard paints if an additional topcoat is desired.
